The Skirted Hourglass Coat in Denim Blue Tweed

A longer length waisted coat with careful tailoring details creating a soft and flattering drapes to front and rear. Perfect for that special occasion.

Our Downing Coat style made up in a wonderfully soft Lambswool tweed with a subtle herringbone pattern in a divine denim blue. Hugely versatile, this coat will take you to work, races, dinner, weddings and beyond.

The coat co-ordinates well both with our A-Line Skirts and our Downing Dresses. We recommend our Skirt in Denim Blue Herringbone Tweed, and our Downing Dress in French Blue Merino Flannel (as shown in the final two photographs).

Fabric

This is a mid to warmer-weight fabric with a wonderful handle and sufficient natural hold to gently maintain the sculptural shape of this informal hourglass coat.

Style

The Downing is one of the most shaped and tailored of our coats. It has neatly tailored shoulders and a structure that mirrors the hourglass shape with a generous skirt.

Superbly flattering, this coat has full length sleeves. The sleeves are slitted at the wrist and have deep internal hems to allow a fold-back cuff. It has two hidden seam pockets and is designed to be worn low on the calf. 

When closed, the two front panels of the coat should be able to meet without either straining at the rear or overlapping at the front; they can be held together to keep the coat closed with any of our closures. This style can also be belted.

Hugely flattering this coat works equally well both open and closed.

Collar

This coat can be ordered with simple round neck as shown in the photographs, or with a Nehru Collar.

Lining

Lined in Pewter Silk with a Dark Navy Satin Trim.
