Waisted Tweed Coat

Our Downing Coat style made up in a wonderfully elegant tweed with an eye-catching pattern. Hugely versatile, this coat will take you to work, the races, dinner, weddings and beyond.

Fabric

This is an unusual and limited edition 'tiger-eye' tweed, woven in Yorkshire. A warmer-weight, finely woven tweed this fabric has a wonderful handle and sufficient natural hold to maintain the Skirted Hourglass shape without exaggeration.

The Style

The Downing is one of the most shaped and tailored of our coats. It has neatly tailored shoulders and a structure that mirrors the hourglass shape with a generous skirt.

Superbly flattering, this coat has full length sleeves. The sleeves are slitted at the wrist and have deep internal hems to allow a fold-back cuff. It has two hidden seam pockets and is designed to be worn low on the calf. 

When closed, the two front panels of the coat should be able to meet without either straining at the rear or overlapping at the front; they can be held together to keep the coat closed with any of our closures. This style can also be belted.

This coat works equally well worn both open and closed.

Collar

This coat can be ordered with simple round neck as shown in the photographs, or with a Nehru Collar.

Lining

Lined in Hazel Silk with a Dark Brown Satin Trim.
