Our Downing Coat style made up in an elegant Dark Navy Pure Cotton Velvet.

Fabric

This is a wonderful velvet with sufficient natural hold to maintain the Skirted Hourglass shape without exaggeration.

Sumptuously soft and rich this coat is wonderful for evening wear and will make a valuable addition to any wardrobe.

Style

The Downing is one of the most shaped and tailored of our coats. It has neatly tailored shoulders and a structure that mirrors the hourglass shape with a generous skirt.

Superbly flattering, this coat has full length sleeves. The sleeves are slitted at the wrist and have deep internal hems to allow a fold-back cuff. It has two hidden seam pockets and is designed to be worn low on the calf.

When closed, the two front panels of the coat should be able to meet without either straining at the rear or overlapping at the front; they can be held together to keep the coat closed with any of our closures. This style can also be belted.

Hugely flattering this coat works equally well both open and closed.

Collar

This coat can be ordered with Nehru Collar as shown in the photographs, or with a simple round neck

The Fabric

This is a pure cotton velvet. Although this textile is not made in Britain, we have added this to our mix to expand our evening wear offering.

Lining

Lined in Pewter Silk with a Dark Navy Satin Trim.
