Ode on a Hardworking Hourglass

At EdNerat we believe our clothes should work for us – not us for them.

All of our coat shapes are designed to work for us, but arguably the hardest working of all them is our Hourglass shape.

Our Hourglass coats give their wearers hourglass shapes, rather than demanding them of their wearers. They are relaxed, comfortable and hugely flattering – on all shapes.

We offer our Hourglass Coats in two cuts, The Biffin for the straighter frame and smaller bust and The Vasey for the curvier frame and or fuller bust.

Both styles are designed to be worn low on the calf, but can be lengthened or shortened according to taste. They can also be nipped in or let out at the waist and sleeves can be lengthened or shortened. The Vasey can also be let out at the bust and hips.

All the styles have full length sleeves and slits at the cuff, enabling you to fold the cuffs back to bracelet length.

The coats can be ordered with a simple round neck, or a Nehru collar. Elegant, comfortable and versatile, these coats are perfect for throwing over the simplest of dresses to make a stunning outfit — fitting both for work and for weddings — and they also work wonders over trousers.

We have conceived the hourglass for wearing open, on the basis that most of us spend most of the time wearing our coats open. When the coat fits properly, the two front edges should meet in the middle. You (or we) can add hidden closures to hold the coat closed. Simple hooks and eyes would do the job, but we prefer something a little more solid and can supply our brass closures either fitted, or unfitted.

If you would like to discuss sizing or any adaptations, please do get in touch or use our toile service to ensure the perfect fit before anything is cut in cloth.
