Our Skirted Hourglass coat is unmistakably feminine – but imposes no strictures on its wearer.

Thanks to under-bust tucks to front and rear we realise the impression of a fitted shape and then release this into the flares of a skirt full of movement. Gentle, comfortable and elegant, the overall effect is quietly dramatic: a coat made for occasions, though easy enough to wear beyond them.

It relies on soft folds and we offer it in cloths that allow this — our drapier brocades, fine tweeds, fine flannels and silk matka — never in anything too stiff or bulky. Each is lined in pure silk, with your choice of satin trim.

The "fitted waist" conceit achieved by the tucks draws the eye in while the flared skirt skims the hip, so it flatters those who want to create or emphasise shape without needing to hold their breath.
