about the burlison
The Burlison is fantastically flattering and easy to wear. It is designed to fall to the calf, has roomy bracelet length sleeves, subtle pleats at the shoulders and a generous swing.
Two small seams accentuate a flattering waisted shape at the back, while jetted pockets sit at a subtly slanted angle at the front.
Generous at the bust area, this coat is specifically cut so that the better endowed don't need to leap up in size to accommodate their bosoms.

The Burlison can be worn open or closed. When closed, the two front panels of the coat should be able to meet without either straining at the rear or overlapping at the front; they can be held together to keep the coat closed with any of our closures.
body type
The Burlison works is designed for the more curvaceous shapes and those with more generous busts.
For those with a straighter shape we recommend the Bell Coat.

You can add a Nehru, Mandarin or Low Mandarin collar to the Burlison.

You can opt to have the Burlison taken in or let out at both the bust and the shoulders, cut to a longer or shorter length, and to lengthen or shorten its sleeves.

You can chose to have the Burlison made without pockets.

You can add any of our closures to this coat.

A lining and trim combination is suggested for each fabric, but you are free to choose from our house selection.

The size table below shows the measurements of the Burlison coat in both inches and centimetres. The graphic and accompanying table show the points at which the measurements have been taken.
In selecting your size please remember that these are the garment measurements – your own measurements will be smaller than those shown on the chart – ie a size 8 might typically have a bust measurement of 83cm, fitting a coat with a bust of 94cm.

When selecting your size, please bear in mind what you think you might want to wear underneath your coat and remember that while we can take coats in, we cannot let them out.
